Words That Mean Love

“In thirty seconds,” the writing teacher said,
“write seven words
in an ascending sequence
that come to mind
when you think of romantic love.”

Mine were:
Recognition, Affection, Tenderness,
Electricity, Devotion, Connection, Oneness.

The other guy’s were:
Warmth, Hands, Skin,
Lips, Kiss, Embrace, Caress.

The class called me ‘Abstract Andy’
and liked the other guy’s.
