When Love Was Gold

In the Golden Age,
Love is consummated
With just a look.

I look at you,
You look at me…
Cupid’s arrows fire—

And pure golden light,
Electric sweetness
Flows between
Our shining eyes
That say:
I found my diamond.

Yes,
It’s true:
I found you.
In this vast universe,
I found
You.

My light found
Your light found
My light
Pouring your light
Into mine.

I give myself to you.

I am,
You are,
Now we are

One
Sacred
Glowing
Love.

In the Silver Age,
Love is consummated
With a touch:
“Take my hand, love.”
“Where are we going?”
“To find God!”
“Can we play on the way?”
“Of course, sweet one—
The way is a play.”

In the Bronze Age,
Love is consummated
With an embrace,

Sparking our fires
That merge into
One energy-field of loving bliss.

In the Iron Age,
Love is consummated
With that act,
Which is… complicated.

I’ve noticed that
Look, touch, embrace, act—
—All are still here today,
Even in the Iron Age.

And look is still golden,
Touch only silver,
Embrace merely bronze,
And the act:
Es un poco complicado.

And yet…
